CM Nayab Saini launches first phase of Census 2027

Chandigarh (Balwinder Sinngh) – Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, while launching the self-enumeration process under the first phase of Census 2027, said that the census is a significant national exercise conducted at regular intervals, and the data collected is simple, secure and completely confidential. He said this data plays a crucial role in formulating schemes for various sections of society and in determining the future course of development.

The Chief Minister was addressing a press conference after launching the self-enumeration. He said that the tagline of Census 2027, “Our Census, Our Development,” reflects the importance of this nationwide campaign.

Responding to a question, he clarified that census and delimitation are two distinct subjects. Delimitation is undertaken after long intervals and is not related to any single political party but is a matter of public importance. He said that census data will also prove highly useful in achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047, and all political parties should extend meaningful cooperation in this process.

The Chief Minister said that the self-enumeration will continue from April 16 to 30, 2026, while house listing and housing census activities will be conducted from May 1 to 30, 2026.

The Chief Minister extended his best wishes to the officers and officials engaged in this nationally important exercise and appreciated their efforts in ensuring its successful implementation.

Chief Secretary, Sh. Anurag Rastogi, Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, and State Nodal Officer for Census 2027, Dr Sumita Misra, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, Director, Census Haryana, Sh. Lalit Jain, Additional Director, Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, Smt. Varsha Khangwal, Media Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. Praveen Attrey, along with other senior officers, were present during the press conference.
