Canada Deports Suspect Linked to Surrey Extortion Network, Police Release Image

Surrey (Rajeev Sharma): A 20-year-old man of Punjabi origin has been expelled from Canada after being linked to an alleged extortion racket operating in Surrey, officials confirmed. The action follows his earlier arrest as part of a broader investigation into rising cases of intimidation and violence in the region.

The suspect, identified as Prabhjot Singh, had come under the scanner of the Surrey Police Service earlier this year. Authorities claim he was involved in activities connected to threats and coercion targeting local businesses and residents.

After his arrest, immigration authorities stepped in. The Canada Border Services Agency reviewed his status and determined that he was not eligible to continue residing in the country, leading to his deportation.

In a bid to strengthen the ongoing probe, police have made his photograph public, urging citizens to share any relevant information that could help identify additional suspects or uncover further details about the network.

Investigators have noted a worrying increase in extortion-related offences across British Columbia’s Lower Mainland in recent years. These incidents have included threats, shootings, and property damage, raising alarm among residents and law enforcement agencies alike.

Officials said specialized units are working alongside regional task forces to break these criminal chains. The latest deportation is being viewed as part of intensified efforts to tackle organised crime and ensure public safety in the province.
