Jaipur (Rajeev Sharma): An Air India flight travelling from Frankfurt to Delhi was diverted to Jaipur on Wednesday morning after a bomb threat was reported, prompting security agencies to initiate checks at the airport.
The aircraft, operating as flight AI2030, is a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. According to sources, the plane made an emergency landing at Jaipur International Airport and was moved to a designated isolation bay for a detailed security inspection.
Security personnel were examining the aircraft following the diversion, police sources said. Further information about the nature of the threat and the outcome of the checks was not immediately available.
Sources familiar with the initial information said the pilot had reportedly entered Squawk Code 7500 while the aircraft was flying within the Mumbai Flight Information Region. The code is used to indicate unlawful interference with an aircraft. The plane was subsequently diverted to Jaipur.
The number of passengers and crew members on board had not been confirmed at the time of reporting.
Air India had not issued an official statement on the incident, and further details were awaited as security checks continued.
The diversion comes as authorities work to establish the credibility of the reported threat and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
