Gurpreet Singh :- Panic gripped parts of Ludhiana after an anonymous email threatening bomb attacks on the residences of Ludhiana Mayor Inderjit Kaur and Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh surfaced on Monday morning, prompting heightened security measures and an intensive police probe.
According to official sources, the threatening email was received around 7:28 am on the official email account of the Municipal Corporation Commissioner. The message allegedly warned of planned explosions targeting both the Mayor’s residence and Diljit Dosanjh’s ancestral home located in his native village.
The email specifically mentioned that an explosion would take place at the Mayor’s residence at 1:11 pm, while another threat claimed that Dosanjh’s village home could be targeted by June 6 at 9:11 pm.
Following the alert, police and security agencies immediately swung into action. Security around the Mayor’s camp office and other sensitive locations was significantly tightened as precautionary checks were launched.
The email also reportedly carried references to a group identifying itself as the “Khalistan National Army” and mentioned several names, including Engineer Gurnakh Singh, Rukan Shahwal, Dr Gurvinder Singh and Khan Razada. However, officials have not yet confirmed the authenticity of the claims made in the message.
Senior police officials said cybercrime and intelligence teams have been engaged to trace the origin of the email and determine whether the threat is genuine or part of a deliberate attempt to create panic.
Authorities said investigations are underway from all possible angles, while security agencies continue to monitor the situation closely.
