Amritsar (Gurpreet Singh): As part of the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ being run by the Punjab Government to keep the state’s youth away from drugs and promote sports culture, a mega ‘Youth Run’ is being organised in Amritsar on October 11. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal appealed to the people of Punjab, especially the youth, to participate in this run in large numbers.
Addressing a press conference on Friday along with AAP leader Gurpartap Singh Sandhu, MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that the government had launched the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign to make Punjab completely drug-free. As part of this campaign, marathons involving thousands of young people have already been organised in Mohali, Bathinda and Jalandhar. The Youth Run events in all three districts have received an overwhelming response from the public and the youth.
Taking this initiative forward, the Youth Run will begin at 6 AM on October 11 from Ranjit Avenue in the holy city of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji, Amritsar. All MLAs from Amritsar, the party’s senior leadership and thousands of young people will participate in this marathon.
MLA Dhaliwal further said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s vision is to keep Punjab’s youth fit and healthy. With this objective, ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Dian’ was launched, and its fourth season is now being conducted successfully. The main objective of this initiative is to nurture new players and bring glory to Punjab at the international level.
He clarified that the Mann Government is following a zero-tolerance policy to eliminate drugs from Punjab. Under this policy, thousands of drug smugglers have been sent to jail so far, and crackdown their illegal properties and houses.
Appealing to all residents and young people of Amritsar and the surrounding areas, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that just as people had extended their full support to this campaign in Mohali, Jalandhar and Bathinda, now they should reach Ranjit Avenue at 6 AM on October 11 and become part of this run, contributing towards building ‘Rangla’ and drug-free Punjab.
