Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): The Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, has announced that the Punjab government will transfer the financial honorarium under the Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojna directly into the bank accounts of more than 50 lakh newly registered women on August 1. Speaking at a large public gathering in Mukerian, Kejriwal assured beneficiaries that anyone who registered late would receive the cumulative payments for the months of July, August, and September. Under this ongoing welfare initiative, general category women receive 1,000 rupees per month, while beneficiaries from Dalit communities receive an enhanced amount of 1,500 rupees per month.
Kejriwal heavily praised Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, describing the current administration as completely free of corruption allegations as it enters its fifth year. He noted that the state’s transparent governance has allowed the administration to successfully execute high-impact welfare schemes, such as providing free electricity alongside the direct cash transfers. The party chief strongly advocated for Mann’s re-election, asserting that a dedicated leader working continuously for public welfare deserves a consecutive term to guide the state forward.
In addition to the financial transfers, the state government is set to significantly expand the Mukh Mantri Teerath Yatra Yojna on August 1. Currently operating on two routes to Sri Darbar Sahib and Sri Anandpur Sahib, the fully funded pilgrimage scheme will add three new routes to prominent spiritual destinations including Salasar Ji, Khatu Shyam Ji, Mathura, Vrindavan, Haridwar, and Rishikesh. The government aims to sponsor the travel, accommodation, and food costs for approximately 1.5 lakh pilgrims across these religious corridors.
Major infrastructure projects aimed at preserving and developing religious heritage sites were also unveiled during the event. The Punjab government will construct a grand temple dedicated to Luv Kush and Mata Sita adjacent to the historic Bhagwan Valmiki Mandir in Amritsar. Furthermore, an ongoing 80 crore rupee development project to transform the Kali Mata Mandir complex in Patiala is expected to reach completion by October 1. These initiatives coincide with a series of state-sponsored devotional programmes being held across 22 cities in Punjab.
