Calgary (Rajeev Sharma): Alberta is set to promote its approach to energy development, emissions reduction and clean technology in New York City as Environment and Protected Areas Minister Grant Hunter attends Climate Week NYC from September 21 to 25.
During the visit, Hunter will take part in meetings and events focused on emissions reduction, energy innovation, technology and investment. The Alberta government says the minister will highlight the province’s work in areas including carbon capture, methane reduction and other technologies aimed at lowering emissions while maintaining economic growth.
The province is also positioning the visit as an opportunity to attract investment and strengthen international partnerships within Alberta’s energy sector.
“Alberta is showing the world that economic growth and emissions reductions can go hand in hand,” Hunter said. He added that the province is reducing emissions, attracting investment and creating jobs while continuing to develop its natural resources.
Hunter is expected to meet with government representatives, industry leaders, investors and international organizations during the trip. Discussions will focus on potential collaboration, investment opportunities and Alberta’s experience with energy and emissions-reduction technologies.
According to the province, the meetings are intended to strengthen strategic relationships and support efforts to encourage investment and innovation in Alberta.
Hunter will travel with one staff member and three department staff. Details of the mission’s expenses will be published through Alberta’s travel and expense disclosure process.
