Alberta to Showcase Clean Energy Technologies and Investment Opportunities at COP31 in Türkiye

Edmonton (Rajeev Sharma): Alberta is preparing to present its energy expertise and emissions-reduction innovations to an international audience at the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP31, scheduled to take place in Antalya, Türkiye, from November 9 to 14.

Environment and Protected Areas Minister Grant Hunter will lead the provincial delegation, with a focus on promoting Alberta-developed technologies, attracting investment and expanding cooperation with international partners.

The province plans to highlight its work in areas such as methane emissions reduction, carbon capture and the commercial development of new technologies. Discussions will also focus on opportunities to connect Alberta’s energy sector with governments, industry representatives and investors from around the world.

Energy expertise to take centre stage

Alberta’s participation is intended to showcase how its energy resources, technical knowledge and innovation capabilities can contribute to meeting growing global energy requirements while addressing emissions.

Minister Grant Hunter said the conference would provide an opportunity to communicate Alberta’s position on energy development and demonstrate the results of technologies developed in the province.

“Alberta has an important story to tell the world,” Hunter said, pointing to the province’s resources, expertise and technology as important elements in meeting energy demand while continuing efforts to reduce emissions.

Focus on international investment and partnerships

Beyond presenting its technological capabilities, Alberta will use the six-day conference to pursue business and investment opportunities. The delegation is expected to engage with international governments, industry leaders and potential investors.

Methane reduction and carbon capture will be among the key areas for discussion, alongside opportunities to bring Alberta-developed innovations into wider commercial use.

Province seeks a voice in global energy discussions

The provincial government says attending COP31 will allow Alberta to participate in international conversations that could influence its energy industry, economic interests and access to overseas markets.

The conference will also provide a platform to strengthen existing relationships and establish new connections with organisations interested in energy technology and emissions-reduction solutions.

Through its participation, Alberta aims to increase international awareness of its energy sector and highlight investment opportunities linked to innovation and technology development.
