Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab leader and Punjab Youth Development Board Chairman Parminder Singh Goldy said that a grand ‘Jashan-e-Inquilab’ programme will be held at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, on September 28 to mark the birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Ji.
Addressing a press conference on Friday along with AAP MLA and Youth Wing President Manjinder Singh Lalpura, AAP Punjab Working President Amansher Singh Shery Kalsi and Youth Wing State Vice President Bir Davinder Singh, Chairman Parminder Singh Goldy said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann, the government is mobilising the youth to build a ‘Rangla Punjab’ once again. Youth are being connected with youth clubs in every village. The Aam Aadmi Party government has provided sports grounds, indoor and outdoor gyms, ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’ and ‘Youth Runs’ as platforms for young people who had been straying from the right path for a long time. These efforts are helping create a happy and prosperous Punjab. On the occasion, the leaders also jointly launched the poster for the ‘Jashan-e-Inquilab’ programme.
MLA Manjinder Singh Lalpura said that opposition parties claimed Punjab’s youth had gone astray, but when the marathons were organised, thousands of young people came forward and registered. Thousands of youth also participated in the Bathinda marathon. He said those who claimed that Punjab’s youth had been ruined must see that even today, the youth of Punjab are following the path shown by Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
He said the main event will begin at 3:00 PM on September 28 at PAU Ludhiana. Before the main event, university students will showcase their art and talent. The evening will feature a cultural performance by renowned singer Ranjit Bawa, while Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will deliver a special message to the youth of Punjab. More than 1.25 lakh youth have registered for the event so far.
MLA Shery Kalsi said that the ideology of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Ji played an important role in the country’s freedom struggle, and it is our responsibility to carry his vision forward. He said that from the very beginning, the Aam Aadmi Party government has given priority to the ideology of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Ji.
Targeting the Akali Dal, Congress and BJP, he said these parties defamed Punjab by calling it ‘Udta Punjab’ and labelled its youth as drug addicts. He said the large turnout of young people at marathons and sports events has shown that Punjab’s youth are united against drugs. He added that there is strong enthusiasm among the youth across the state for the ‘Jashan-e-Inquilab’ programme in Ludhiana.
Aam Aadmi Party Youth Wing Vice President Bir Davinder Singh said the programme is being organised by the Youth Wing. The campaign to connect with the youth began with a Youth Marathon in Mohali, where 10,000 young people participated. Marathons were later held in Jalandhar and Bathinda, with 25,000 youth participating in Bathinda, where young people created a new record of participation.
He said that while opposition parties were busy defaming Punjab’s youth, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held a meeting with the Youth Wing team and decided to use ‘Jashan-e-Inquilab’ on Shaheed Bhagat Singh Ji’s birth anniversary to showcase Punjab’s progress and prosperity. He said the registration of lakhs of young people for the programme shows that Punjab’s future is in safe and progressive hands.
