Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has strongly criticized the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) action against officials linked to the Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation (PSIDC), alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is using central investigative agencies to target political opponents instead of addressing public concerns.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ruling party claimed that the BJP was attempting to divert attention from growing public dissatisfaction by launching what it described as politically motivated investigations. AAP alleged that the Centre has repeatedly used agencies such as the ED, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and the Income Tax Department against the Punjab government and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann but has failed to establish any wrongdoing.
According to the party, the latest action against PSIDC officials is part of an effort to indirectly target individuals associated with the Chief Minister after previous investigations allegedly yielded no evidence against him.
AAP further accused the BJP of trying to tarnish the image of the Punjab government through “baseless allegations” and a sustained campaign of political propaganda rather than relying on factual findings.
The party maintained that the move reflects an attempt to weaken an elected state government by misusing constitutional institutions. It asserted that such actions are aimed at creating a negative perception despite the absence of concrete proof.
Condemning what it termed “politics of intimidation and vendetta,” AAP said the people of Punjab were aware of the motives behind these investigations and would not be misled by what it described as politically driven campaigns.
The party reiterated that it would continue to oppose the alleged misuse of central agencies and remain committed to its governance agenda despite what it called repeated attempts to defame the Punjab government.
