Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Operative Harry Boxer Detained In US; Indian Agencies To Begin Extradition Process

California (Rajeev Sharma): Harry Boxer, an alleged operative of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang whose real name is Harichand Jat, has been detained by US authorities in California following inputs from the Delhi Police Special Cell and Haryana Special Task Force (STF), sources said on Saturday.

Indian agencies are expected to initiate the legal process to bring him back to India. The procedure is likely to be coordinated through the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), India’s nodal agency for such matters. Further details about his detention are awaited.

Originally from the Bamsur area of Rajasthan’s Kotputli-Behror district, Boxer is accused of operating the gang’s extortion network from abroad. Several criminal cases involving allegations of murder, attempted murder, assault, firing and extortion threats against businessmen have been registered against him across Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana.

Who Is Harry Boxer?

Harichand Jat reportedly acquired the nickname Harry Boxer after learning boxing during his stay in Jaipur. He initially prepared for competitive examinations and also worked as a boxing coach before allegedly entering criminal activities.

His name has surfaced in connection with several high-profile cases, including the firing incident at comedian Kapil Sharma’s cafe in Canada.

Boxer has also allegedly issued threats to Bollywood personalities, including filmmaker Rohit Shetty, actors Ranveer Singh and Tusshar Kapoor.

According to sources, he claimed responsibility for the firing outside Rohit Shetty’s residence and later issued threats through social media posts and audio messages.

Harry Boxer Linked To Tiger Shroff Firing Case

Last month, Delhi Police said Harry Boxer and Anil Pandit were part of the Randeep Malik gang, whose name had surfaced in connection with extortion calls and firing incidents.

The police statement came after four people, including two women, were arrested in connection with the firing incident targeting actor Tiger Shroff.

Speaking to ANI, Delhi Police Special Cell DCP Praveen Tripathi said the arrested accused were allegedly acting on instructions received from Anil Pandit through encrypted communication channels and social media.

Tripathi said Pandit and Boxer were associated with the Randeep Malik gang and communicated with others through encrypted channels to pass on instructions.

Previous Extortion Threats And Police Investigations

Boxer’s name has also emerged in investigations into ransom demands and threatening messages.

In April, Haryana STF Deputy Inspector General Rahul Lodha told ANI that an investigation into a ransom demand and a threatening video had established links to Boxer.

Lodha said the video was traced to Nirmal Tiwari, who was arrested. During interrogation, investigators allegedly found that Tiwari had been hired by Anand Mishra to record the video. Mishra and Jaiprakash Dara, who allegedly provided financial support, were also taken into custody.

In another case reported in March, police spokesperson Rajesh Dandotiya said a businessman named Sanjay had received an international call and a WhatsApp voice note from a person identifying himself as Harry Boxer.

The caller allegedly demanded Rs 15 crore and threatened the businessman with harm if the money was not paid. An FIR was registered at Tukoganj police station, and security was provided to the complainant.

Earlier in February, the Mumbai Crime Branch issued a Look Out Circular against Harichandra alias Harry Boxer in connection with a threat to actor Ranveer Singh.

According to Mumbai Police, a voice note sent to Singh’s manager contained a demand for Rs 20 crore. The message was sent to Punjab and Haryana Police for verification.

With Boxer’s detention in California, Indian agencies are now expected to take up the formal legal process for his return. His detention and any subsequent extradition will be subject to the applicable legal procedures.
