AAP Will Return To Power In Punjab, Bhagwant Mann To Become CM For Second Term: Baltej Pannu

New Delhi (Gurpreet Singh): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is confident of retaining power in Punjab in the upcoming Assembly elections, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann set to lead the government for a second consecutive term, party spokesperson Baltej Pannu said on Saturday.

Reacting to statements by BJP leaders on whether the party would contest the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections independently or enter into an alliance, Pannu said AAP was not concerned about the BJP’s electoral strategy and would seek votes on the basis of its governance record.

He said the party would approach voters with its development and welfare initiatives over the past five years.

Pannu Targets BJP Over Unclear Election Strategy

Pannu, AAP Punjab’s media in-charge, said BJP leaders had made contradictory statements about contesting all 117 Assembly seats independently and exploring an alliance with another party.

He said the BJP’s decision on its electoral arrangements would not affect AAP’s preparations, adding that the party would focus on its own work and achievements.

Pannu also claimed that people in Punjab would not support the BJP because of its role during the farmers’ protest against the now-repealed farm laws.

Referring to the deaths of around 750 farmers during the protest, he said the people of Punjab had not forgotten their sacrifice. He also raised issues concerning the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), Chandigarh, Panjab University and funds allegedly withheld from the state.

AAP Lists Canal Water, Free Electricity And Health Cover As Achievements

Highlighting the Mann government’s record, Pannu claimed that AAP had delivered in five years what previous governments had failed to achieve over seven decades.

He said canal water was reaching fields across 88 per cent of Punjab’s agricultural area. He also cited the provision of 600 units of free electricity to households and the introduction of cashless health insurance coverage of Rs 10 lakh.

These claims were presented by Pannu as key achievements that the party would take to voters during the election campaign.

Pannu Praises Bhagwant Mann’s Connect With People

Pannu also described Mann as the first Chief Minister in Punjab’s history to maintain direct contact with ordinary people.

He said earlier Chief Ministers were difficult for citizens to approach, whereas Mann regularly stops to interact with people during public visits and roadside interactions.

According to Pannu, this accessibility reflects the AAP government’s people-centric approach.

Reiterating his confidence in the party’s electoral prospects, Pannu said AAP would seek another mandate on the basis of its development work, governance and welfare measures. He expressed confidence that Mann would return as Chief Minister for a second consecutive term.
