Community Safety Takes Centre Stage at ‘Coffee with a Uniform’ in Calgary

Calgary (Rajeev Sharma): Strengthening community relationships and addressing local safety concerns were the key highlights of the “Coffee with a Uniform” community engagement event held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Denny’s Restaurant in Cornerstone, Northeast Calgary.

The event brought together senior officials and representatives from the Calgary Police Service, Calgary Bylaw, Calgary Transit, Calgary Parking, and Calgary City Councillor Raj Dhaliwal of Ward 5, who met with local residents to discuss issues affecting their neighbourhoods.

Community members had the opportunity to openly share their concerns, discuss public safety challenges, and seek guidance from the respective authorities. Officials listened attentively to the issues raised and engaged in constructive discussions aimed at identifying the best possible solutions through cooperation and effective communication.

The gathering also served as an important educational initiative, with officials informing residents about relevant bylaws, community safety measures, transit-related concerns, parking regulations, and the appropriate channels for reporting problems and seeking assistance.

The presence of senior officials from multiple civic departments provided residents with an opportunity to better understand the responsibilities of each department and how coordinated efforts can help resolve community issues more efficiently.

Councillor Raj Dhaliwal and the participating officials emphasized the importance of community engagement, public awareness, and collaboration between residents and civic authorities in building safer and more inclusive neighbourhoods.

The “Coffee with a Uniform” initiative reflects the commitment of Calgary’s public safety and civic services to remain accessible to the community, listen to residents’ concerns, and work together toward practical and lasting solutions.

The event concluded with meaningful interactions, constructive discussions, and a renewed commitment to strengthening trust between community members and public service officials.
