36 Kg Heroin Seized in Amritsar as Punjab Police Arrest Four in Cross-Border Drug Trafficking Case

Amritsar

Amritsar (Gurpreet Singh): In a significant operation against narcotics trafficking, Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence wing in Amritsar has arrested four people, including a juvenile, and seized 36 kg of heroin from an alleged cross-border smuggling network.

According to the police, preliminary investigations suggest that the accused were operating under the directions of a handler based abroad. They allegedly collected heroin consignments from locations close to the India-Pakistan border in the Lopoke area before distributing the drugs to other parties.

The recovery has exposed suspected links between local operatives and an international drug supply network. Investigators are now working to establish how the consignments entered the area and identify others involved in their movement and distribution.

FIR registered at Amritsar SSOC police station

An FIR has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) police station in Amritsar. Further investigation is underway to trace the network’s backward and forward linkages and identify additional suspects.

Police are examining the alleged role of the foreign-based handler and the supply chain through which the heroin was transported and delivered to other recipients.

Punjab Police said operations against organised narcotics trafficking would continue, with a focus on breaking cross-border supply networks and identifying those involved in the drug trade. The department reiterated its commitment to making Punjab safer and combating the drug menace.
