New Delhi (Gurpreet Singh): President Droupadi Murmu will undertake a two-day visit to Maharashtra and Haryana from October 31, with engagements linked to the Simhastha Maha Kumbh and the 60th anniversary of Haryana’s formation, the Rashtrapati Bhavan announced on Friday.
The President’s first engagement will take place in Nashik on October 31. She is scheduled to participate in the Dhwaj Stambh Pujan, Dhawaja Pujan and Dhwajarohan ceremonies being organised as part of the Simhastha Maha Kumbh. Murmu will also deliver an address at a public programme during the visit.
Her next stop will be Kurukshetra in Haryana on November 1. There, she will attend the ‘Hirak Jayanti’ event marking six decades since Haryana became a separate state.
The President is also scheduled to visit Gurukul in Kurukshetra for an annual event observing 100 years since the sacrifice of Swami Shraddhanand Ji.
What Did President Murmu Say During Her Bastar Dussehra Visit?
The upcoming tour follows Murmu’s October 23 visit to Jagdalpur, where she participated in a public programme organised on the occasion of Bastar Dussehra.
In her address, she spoke about the festival’s importance to Chhattisgarh’s cultural heritage. She described it as an expression of the region’s shared faith and identity, noting that its rituals bring different communities together and strengthen social bonds.
Focus On Tribal Entrepreneurship And Inclusive Growth
The President also referred to Chhattisgarh’s past struggle with Naxalism. She said coordinated action by the central and state governments had helped the region move away from Naxal violence and advance on the development front.
Murmu welcomed efforts to provide financial assistance to tribal entrepreneurs and help them reach wider markets. She said these initiatives could contribute to India’s development target for 2047 by ensuring that growth benefits communities across the country.
Environmental conservation was another key theme of her speech. Referring to the close relationship tribal communities have traditionally maintained with nature, the President said their way of life offered important lessons. She emphasised that protecting the natural environment should remain a priority alongside development.
The Rashtrapati Bhavan release outlined the President’s engagements for the Maharashtra and Haryana tour, beginning with the religious ceremonies in Nashik and concluding with the commemorative events in Kurukshetra.
