Amritsar Police Bust Alleged Arms and Drug Trafficking Network, Three Arrested

Amritsar

Amritsar (Gurpreet Singh): The Amritsar Commissionerate Police have arrested three people and seized 10 pistols along with more than one kilogram of heroin during an operation targeting an alleged network involved in illegal arms smuggling and drug trafficking.

According to Punjab Police, the recovery included three Glock 9mm pistols, seven .30-bore pistols and 1.022 kilograms of heroin. The operation is being followed by a wider investigation into the network’s supply channels and potential links to other suspects.

Preliminary findings suggest that the arrested individuals were allegedly in contact with smugglers based abroad who supplied illegal firearms. Investigators suspect the weapons were subsequently distributed among criminal elements, although the alleged connections remain subject to further investigation.

An FIR has been registered at the Cantonment police station in Amritsar. Police are now working to establish the source of the seized weapons and narcotics, trace the network’s backward and forward links, and identify others who may have played a role in the alleged operation.

The case forms part of Punjab Police’s efforts to curb the circulation of illegal firearms and narcotics in the state. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to targeting trafficking networks and strengthening efforts to make Punjab safer and drug-free.

Further details about the identities of the accused and the wider network are expected as the investigation progresses.
