Haryana Aims to Become India’s Innovation Capital, CM Nayab Singh Saini Tells Singapore Investors

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh) — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini addressed global business leaders at the Singapore India Network for Growth (SING) Forum in Singapore on Sunday, emphasizing his government’s resolve to transform the state into India’s premier innovation capital. The high-level gathering, attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai alongside prominent Singaporean industrialists and trade delegates, focused on expanding long-term strategic collaborations and accelerating infrastructure and industrial investments in northern India.

Highlighting the deep-rooted ties between India and Singapore, the Chief Minister stated that bilateral engagements have evolved well beyond traditional trade accords into a comprehensive strategic partnership grounded in trust, cultural resonance, and measurable economic outcomes. Recalling earlier milestones, he noted that Haryana entered into five major agreements valued at over 3.8 billion Singapore dollars in 2017 across sectors such as logistics, aviation, smart cities, and power. He pointed to the Ascendas-Singbridge International Tech Park in Gurugram as enduring proof of Singapore’s impactful commercial footprint in the state.

The Chief Minister outlined four pivotal avenues offering substantial synergy between Singapore’s global operational expertise and Haryana’s expansive economic market. Logistics and infrastructure head the priorities, driven by Haryana’s strategic location in the National Capital Region, access to major freight corridors, and connectivity to massive northern consumption centers. Other key sectors include integrated urban development and real estate, technology integration alongside Global Capability Centres in Gurugram, and advanced manufacturing encompassing semiconductors, electronics, and automotive engineering.

Touching upon skill development and foundational education, the Chief Minister referenced a strategic tie-up with the Singapore-based Global Schools Group to construct world-class K-12 education infrastructure, an initiative projected to generate roughly 2,000 direct and indirect jobs. He stressed that administrative reforms across Haryana have transitioned the state’s governance framework from merely ensuring the ease of doing business to guaranteeing the speed of doing business. Welcoming corporate leaders to explore industrial clusters across Gurugram and Manesar, he reiterated that the state offers certainty, swift administrative turnaround, and collaborative backing to convert bilateral dialogues into concrete, long-term enterprises.
