Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini Launches 10-Day Drive to Eliminate 21 Garbage Points in Gurugram

Gurugram (Balwinder Singh) — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday launched a targeted 10-day sanitation campaign aimed at transforming 21 major garbage-vulnerable points into clean, revitalized public spaces across Gurugram. Rolled out by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram on Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti under the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 initiative and the ongoing state-wide Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, the special drive will run until October 11 under the banner of creating a cleaner urban environment through sustained civic participation.

The Chief Minister inaugurated the drive by inspecting a newly reclaimed garbage-vulnerable site developed by civic authorities near the DHBVN Colony on Mehrauli Road. Emphasizing that long-term urban cleanliness cannot rely solely on administrative machinery and modern technology, Saini highlighted community involvement as the decisive pillar of public hygiene. He urged residents and commercial establishments to adopt disciplined waste-management habits by segregating garbage at the source, halting open dumping entirely, and handing refuse exclusively over to authorised collection vehicles.

Carrying the operational theme of clearing 21 sensitive dumping spots in 10 days, the campaign focuses on preventing recurring waste accumulation rather than conducting one-off cleaning exercises. The municipal corporation has scheduled intensive sanitation activities across designated neighbourhoods, starting from Sarhol and the DHBVN Colony, moving through Tikri, Sector 18, Urbana Mall, Subhash Chowk, and Pace City, before covering high-footfall areas such as Krishna Colony, Ghata, Banjara Market, Daulatabad Road, Sector 37, Sector 39, and Ullahwas.

Local authorities have called upon resident welfare associations, commercial traders, schools, and youth organisations to contribute physical labour and take active ownership of their local surroundings. The inauguration event also featured street theatre performances communicating proper waste segregation practices, concluding with participants and officials joining the Chief Minister in taking a collective cleanliness pledge.
