Jamshedpur (Rajeev Sharma): Four people, including the daughter of Jharkhand Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Dipika Pandey Singh, were killed after the car they were travelling in collided with a stationary truck in Jamshedpur, police said.
The crash took place in the early hours of Thursday on Marine Drive Road, within the Sonari police station area. The vehicle reportedly struck the parked truck, resulting in multiple fatalities.
Police confirmed that the minister’s daughter was among those who died in the accident. Authorities have not yet released further details about the identities of the other victims or the circumstances that led to the collision.
The incident has prompted condolences from political leaders, including Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
In a social media message, Soren expressed grief over the deaths and extended his condolences to Dipika Pandey Singh and the families of the other victims. He described the loss of a child as an especially painful experience for any parent and prayed for strength for the bereaved families.
The accident has once again drawn attention to the dangers posed by high-speed road travel and vehicles parked along major roads, although authorities have yet to establish the specific factors responsible for the crash.
Police are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
