Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): In a major relief to the common man, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday directed officers to initiate the process for recruiting more than 1,000 Revenue Patwaris in the larger public interest. The decision was taken during a meeting with a delegation of the Revenue Patwar Union.
A decision to this effect was taken by the Chief Minister during a meeting with a delegation of Revenue Patwar Union here today. On this, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “Recruitment of more than 1,000 Revenue Patwaris will provide relief to the people and ensure that their routine administrative work does not suffer. The recruitment process will be completed in a transparent manner in the coming days.”
The Chief Minister stated, “It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that the Union has decided to call off its stir as its genuine demands have been accepted. The state government has, in principle, accepted the demand of Patwaris to restore the Patwari cadre from the state-level to the district-level cadre.”
He said, “This decision will streamline the recruitment process and remove the administrative hurdles being faced across the state regarding seniority and promotions. The decision has been taken keeping in view the need for administrative reforms and improvement in the functioning of the department.”
“Formal approval for restoring the Patwari cadre at the district level will soon be given by the Council of Ministers,” he said.
Reiterating the firm commitment of the Punjab government towards the welfare of employees, the Chief Minister said, “The government is committed to the welfare of its employees. I urge the Patwaris to work hard and ensure successful implementation of all welfare schemes of the state government at the grassroots level.”
“I hope that Patwaris will discharge the responsibility entrusted to them by the government with utmost dedication, honesty and within the stipulated timeframe,” said CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.
“The government will consider the genuine demands of the employees in a sympathetic manner. I also urge the Union to ensure that, in future, all service-related issues are resolved through dialogue and mutual consultation rather than resorting to any sort of agitation,” said the Chief Minister.
