Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday welcomed Rantej Singh Powar, great-grandson of Akali stalwart Giani Shankar Singh and grandson of Sardar Bir Singh, into the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), saying his joining will further strengthen the party’s organisational network in the Doaba region. Welcoming Powar into the party fold, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said his entry into public life reflects the growing participation of people from different sections of society in Punjab’s political journey.
On this,CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “Rantej Singh Powar’s joining the Aam Aadmi Party reflects the growing faith of people from different sections of society in the policies and governance of the state government. I hope that he will work with dedication for the welfare of the people and play an active role in further strengthening the party at the grassroots level.”
He said that Powar’s decision to enter public life marks the beginning of a new chapter in his journey of public service, as he carries forward the legacy and values of service inherited from his family. “Punjab needs young, energetic and committed people who are willing to enter politics with the sole objective of serving the people. The political landscape of the state is witnessing a change as people committed to public service are increasingly coming forward to contribute to Punjab’s development,” said the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister stated, “Politics should be a medium of public service, not a means of personal power. Young people with energy, commitment and a spirit of service must come forward and work for Punjab.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the AAP government has consistently worked to place the interests of ordinary people at the centre of governance. “Our pro-people policies and transparent governance have created a new political culture in Punjab. Today, people from different walks of life are coming forward to become a part of this journey of change,” he said.
He said that Rantej Singh Powar’s joining would further strengthen the party’s organisational network in the Doaba region, particularly by connecting with the younger generation and strengthening direct engagement with people at the grassroots. “Every public representative and party worker has the responsibility to remain connected with the people, listen to their concerns and work relentlessly for resolving their problems. Public service must always remain at the centre of political work,” he said.
Congratulating Rantej Singh Powar on joining the AAP, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann wished him success in his journey of public service. “His experience, family legacy and commitment to public service will contribute to strengthening the party’s outreach among the people of Punjab. On the occasion, Rantej Singh Powar thanked CM Bhagwant Singh Mann and the AAP leadership for welcoming him into the party and expressed his commitment to work wholeheartedly for the people of the Doaba region in general and Jalandhar Cantonment in particular.
