Surrey (Amrit Dhot): Just hours after Kerry-Lynne Findlay’s resignation plunged the B.C. Conservatives into a major leadership transition, the party has moved swiftly to stabilize its leadership, naming Lorne Doerkson as Interim Leader.
Mauro Francis, President of the Conservative Party of British Columbia, said the Conservative Caucus voted to recommend Doerkson, with the party’s Board of Directors subsequently accepting the recommendation and formally appointing him.
Francis thanked Doerkson for stepping forward during the transition and said the party and caucus would now move forward together, focusing on providing opposition and representing British Columbians across the province.
The party said further information regarding the transition will be released in the coming days. Doerkson’s appointment follows Findlay’s resignation after a period of significant internal turmoil within the B.C. Conservatives, placing the party under interim leadership as it works through its next phase.
