Surrey (Amrit Dhot): The sights, sounds and spirit of rural Punjab took centre stage in Surrey as the Punjabi Heritage Festival -Surrey 2026 brought the community together for a vibrant celebration of Punjabi culture, heritage and family traditions near Mud Bay Park.
The festival offered more than a cultural gathering, it created an immersive village-style experience, allowing visitors to reconnect with the traditions and everyday life of Punjab while celebrating the cultural identity that continues to thrive in British Columbia.
From a traditional Punjabi village café and food to food trucks and village-style kitchens, the event featured an array of experiences reflecting Punjab’s rich culinary and rural heritage. Traditional cycles, village items, art, crafts and creative displays further added to the atmosphere.
The cultural stage featured Bhangra, Giddha and other traditional performances, bringing music and dance to the heart of the celebration. Artists, creators and community participants also contributed to an event designed to connect generations and encourage families to celebrate their shared heritage.
Children and families took part in activities throughout the festival, while Punjabi village-style décor and interactive experiences provided visitors with a visual and cultural journey back to the roots of Punjab.
The festival served as a reminder that cultural heritage remains a powerful force for bringing communities together, particularly for Punjabi families living far from their ancestral homeland.
