Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): The District Traders Commission in SAS Nagar conducted a comprehensive review meeting with key administrative and municipal departments to address persistent issues faced by local shopkeepers and business operators across the district. Convened under the leadership of Traders Commission Chairman Ranjit Pal Singh, the session served as a structured coordination platform between private commercial stakeholders and government bodies. Officials examined regulatory hurdles, infrastructure demands, and service delivery bottlenecks, focusing on eliminating bureaucratic delays to support local enterprise and commercial growth.
Presiding over the administrative review, Assistant Commissioner (General) Dr Ankita Kansal sought exhaustive updates from designated departments regarding representations submitted by local market associations. Kansal instructed departmental heads to treat pending commercial grievances on high priority, mandating that all administrative actions adhere strictly to statutory guidelines and established procedural timelines. Emphasising the necessity of seamless inter-departmental cooperation, she directed officers to streamline communication channels so that operational decisions reach affected business owners without avoidable friction.
Dr Kansal reiterated that the SAS Nagar administration remains steadfast in cultivating a transparent, supportive business ecosystem that encourages commercial activity while maintaining civic order. She urged participating officers to maintain a proactive posture, resolve matters within their statutory remits without passing responsibility between departments, and keep traders’ representatives regularly updated on procedural outcomes. The administration emphasised that sustained dialogue between municipal authorities and the merchant community is vital for responsive local governance.
Commission members, including Vice Chairman Tarlochan Singh Baidwan, Mohali Constituency Chairman Akwinder Singh Gosal, and Kharar representative Yashpal Bansal, placed key ground-level challenges before the attending officers. Present at the deliberations were Joint Deputy Director of Local Government Varinder Jain, Municipal Corporation Mohali Assistant Commissioner Manpreet Singh, along with executive engineers from Punjab State Power Corporation Limited and other civic agencies. The meeting concluded with instructions for departments to submit periodic compliance reports, ensuring transparent and measurable progress on every issue raised.
