Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini paid obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Katalgarh Sahib in Chamkaur Sahib, Punjab, offering prayers for the prosperity of the people and the strengthening of mutual brotherhood between Punjab and Haryana. During his visit, the Chief Minister announced a financial grant of 21 lakh rupees for the construction of a historic memorial gate dedicated to the memory of immortal martyr Bibi Sharan Kaur.
Addressing the congregation, Saini described Chamkaur Sahib as a living institution of sacrifice, courage, and service. He recalled that the sacred land is eternally linked with the supreme sacrifice of Dashmesh Patshah Sri Guru Gobind Singh’s elder Sahibzadas, Baba Ajit Singh and Baba Jujhar Singh. Saini paid solemn tribute to Bibi Sharan Kaur, noting that her remarkable bravery in cremating the mortal remains of the Sahibzadas during a freezing night in December 1704 exemplifies an enduring spirit of selfless service that history can never forget.
Highlighting the teachings of the Sikh Gurus, Saini emphasized that women have consistently demonstrated unmatched valor and dedication. He remarked that the path shown by spiritual masters urges society to raise youth anchored in strong values and character rather than focusing solely on material success. He added that the central and Haryana governments continue to follow the path of service laid down by the Gurus, citing events organized for the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur and the ongoing construction of a 100-crore Sikh museum in Kurukshetra.
Reviewing his administration’s governance record, Saini highlighted major agricultural and social welfare initiatives implemented in Haryana. He noted that the state procures all crops under the Minimum Support Price framework, with payments credited within 72 hours alongside interest provisions for delays. Highlighting broader social safety nets, he pointed out that under the Ayushman Bharat program, half of Haryana’s three-crore population has access to cashless medical care up to 5 lakh rupees annually, with 4,500 crore rupees already disbursed to support 42 lakh patients.
