Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh)— The Haryana Archives Department organized a four-day exhibition of rare and historical documents at the Haryana Civil Secretariat in Sector-1, Chandigarh, concluding on August 27, 2026. The primary objective of the event was to introduce the younger generation to the nation’s freedom struggle, highlighting the valour, sacrifices, and pivotal milestones of freedom fighters through original archival records and historical artefacts.
The exhibition provided visitors with detailed insights into critical events of the independence movement and the socio-political conditions of that era. A dedicated section prominently showcased the indispensable role of women freedom fighters, celebrating their courage, leadership, and active contributions during India’s struggle for independence.
In addition to national historical records, the exhibition displayed key archival materials reflecting Haryana’s regional history along with its rich social and cultural heritage. Department archivists Manoj Sindhu and Meenakshi guided visitors through the exhibits, providing detailed context on the displayed documents and answering questions regarding the state’s historical legacy.
Government officials, secretariat employees, and public visitors toured the gallery to study the curated documents. The Archives Department emphasized that it continues to focus on preserving, digitizing, and safeguarding historical records to ensure that future generations remain closely connected to the sacrifices that shaped the country.
