Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Haryana government has outlined a series of measures aimed at improving infrastructure and the quality of education across government schools and colleges in the state. Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda said the focus is on providing better classroom facilities, expanding competitive-exam support and introducing students to foreign languages.
Dhanda reviewed the progress of various initiatives during a meeting with officials of the School Education and Higher Education departments at Haryana Niwas. He directed officials to complete infrastructure-related projects within the prescribed timelines.
Dual Desks In Eligible Schools By November 2026
The Education Minister said a comprehensive survey of basic facilities across government schools in Haryana has been completed. The exercise has helped identify infrastructure gaps and immediate requirements on a district-wise basis.
Construction, repair and other essential works are now being prioritised according to these findings. The procurement process for dual desks is also underway, with the department targeting their availability in all eligible schools by November 2026.
250 CM-EEE Schools To Be Developed As Model Schools
The government has identified 250 CM-EEE schools that will be developed as model institutions in the state. Special school development plans have been prepared to improve their infrastructure, academic environment and overall quality of education.
School Management Committees (SMCs) have also been given greater financial powers to speed up development work. Projects worth up to Rs 1 lakh can be undertaken with the approval of the competent authority, while infrastructure works worth up to Rs 25 lakh can be carried out with the approval of the Additional Deputy Commissioner.
French, German Classes Introduced In Government Schools
The Haryana government is also expanding foreign-language learning opportunities for government school students.
With support from the French Embassy, 60 teachers have been trained and French classes have started in 26 government schools. Meanwhile, 80 teachers have been selected for German-language training in collaboration with the German Embassy.
The government has also expanded the Super 100 programme, which prepares meritorious students for competitive examinations such as IIT-JEE and NEET. The number of seats has been increased from 400 to 500, while the process of establishing two offline centres has been completed.
NIPUN Haryana Mission To Expand Up To Class 5
The state government is expanding the NIPUN Haryana Mission up to Class 5 as part of the Chief Minister’s budget announcement. During the current academic year, the programme is being implemented up to Class 4.
Students from Balvatika-3 to Class 4 have undergone digital assessment through the NIPUN Haryana Teacher App. Based on their learning levels, new textbooks are expected to be developed to better address students’ academic needs.
Haryana Govt Focuses On Increasing Enrolment In Government Colleges
Dhanda also directed Higher Education Department officials to strengthen infrastructure across government colleges.
The department has been asked to create a better academic environment and improve facilities to attract more students and increase enrolment in state-run colleges.
