New Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): Delhi Police have initiated an investigation into the death of a 31-year-old M.Sc. Physics student of IIT Delhi, registering a case of abetment to suicide against unidentified persons, officials said.
The student died on August 22 after allegedly jumping from a building on the institute campus. The registration of the case indicates that investigators are examining whether any person or circumstances may have contributed to the student’s death.
Police Reconstruct Student’s Final Movements
Preliminary findings suggest that the student entered the IIT Delhi campus through the main gate at around 8 am on the day of the incident.
He later reached the Lecture Hall Complex and reportedly took a lift to the sixth floor. Police said he allegedly jumped from the front portion of the building.
Investigators are now working to piece together the events that preceded the incident and establish the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
No Suspect Identified Yet
The case has currently been registered against unidentified persons, and police have not named any individual as an accused.
The investigation is expected to focus on the student’s movements, available evidence and other circumstances that could help establish whether there was any external pressure or involvement.
