Himachal Pradesh Weather: Rain to Remain Active, Mandi and Kangra Face Risk of Heavy Showers

Relentless Monsoon Rains Wreak Havoc in Himachal Pradesh; 129 Roads Blocked, 39 Dead

Shimla (Rajeev Sharma): Himachal Pradesh is likely to remain under the influence of an active monsoon system, with rainfall expected across much of the state. While most areas may receive light to moderate showers, isolated pockets could witness heavy to very heavy rain, particularly in parts of Mandi, Chamba and Kangra.

The continuing wet spell has raised concerns over landslides and road blockages in vulnerable hill areas. Residents and tourists have been advised to exercise caution, especially during periods of intense rainfall.

Mandi, Chamba and Kangra likely to receive heavier rain

The Meteorological Department has indicated that rainfall activity could strengthen in several districts. Mandi is expected to see periods of light to moderate rain, although some locations may receive significantly heavier showers.

Chamba and Kangra are also likely to experience increased rainfall activity. With saturated slopes and steep terrain, heavy showers can trigger landslides and disrupt road connectivity in vulnerable stretches.

Advisory issued for rivers and landslide-prone areas

People living close to rivers, streams and seasonal water channels have been advised to maintain a safe distance during the rainy spell. The department has also urged the public to avoid entering ravines and other areas vulnerable to sudden water flow.

Unnecessary travel during periods of severe weather has also been discouraged. Commuters travelling through mountainous areas have been asked to remain alert for falling rocks, debris and sudden road blockages.

Una records state’s highest temperature

Despite widespread cloud cover and rain, temperatures remained comparatively high in several lower-altitude areas.

Una recorded the highest maximum temperature at 35.2°C, while Mandi’s maximum temperature stood at 32.4°C.

Sundernagar recorded 33.5°C, followed by Bilaspur at 33°C and Kangra at 32.7°C.

With the monsoon expected to remain active, weather conditions could change quickly across the hill state. Authorities have urged residents and visitors to keep track of official advisories and avoid risky locations during heavy rainfall.
