Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has been discharged from Medanta Hospital in Gurugram following medical treatment for severe injuries sustained during an attack in Nanded, Maharashtra. The political leader had been admitted to the facility on August 14, a day after he was targeted by an assailant while visiting Gurdwara Mata Sahib.
Following his release from the hospital, his wife and Bathinda Member of Parliament Harsimrat Kaur Badal shared images documenting extensive surgical stitches across his arms. She stated that the SAD chief received more than 150 stitches to treat deep lacerations sustained while fending off the assault. According to her account, the attacker attempted to strike his chest with a sharp-edged weapon measuring approximately 1.5 feet in length, and the severe wounds occurred as Badal raised his arms to shield himself.
Raising serious concerns regarding the security breach, Harsimrat Kaur Badal has formally written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to demand a comprehensive investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). In her communication, the parliamentarian alleged that the circumstances indicate a deeper premeditated conspiracy against the regional leader, maintaining that only a specialized central agency probe can uncover the planning and networks behind the incident.
