Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said on Sunday that meditating on and chanting the name of Lord Ram steadies the mind, awakens inner wisdom, and empowers individuals to choose the right path even amid life’s most challenging circumstances. The Chief Minister made these remarks while addressing a spiritual congregation at the Sulhakul Temple in Rampura, Amritsar, where he sought the blessings of Baba Avtar Singh Maharaj and was felicitated with a ceremonial shawl and memento by the shrine’s management.
Appealing directly to the youth of Punjab, Saini urged them to steer clear of substance abuse and channel their energies into education, sports, skill acquisition, and hard work to fulfil the aspirations of their parents. He described Amritsar as a sacred land of sacrifice, devotion, and selfless service, noting that spiritual traditions from India have long illuminated humanity with universal values of peace, mutual harmony, and recognizing the divine in all beings.
The Chief Minister commended the Sulhakul Mission, founded by Sant Sahib Dayal, for carrying forward nearly two centuries of humanitarian service, including grassroots relief efforts during the pandemic. Expressing concern over the growing menace of narcotics, he noted that addiction shatters entire families and appreciated the mission’s proactive role in organizing sports tournaments across dozens of villages to engage youth constructively.
Underlining the broader vision of national progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saini emphasized that the realization of a developed nation relies on balancing economic progress with core moral values, social sensitivity, self-restraint, and spiritual consciousness.
