Washington, D.C. (Rajeev Sharma): US President Donald Trump has once again asserted that Iran will not be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon, while expressing confidence that the prolonged conflict involving Tehran could soon come to an end.
Addressing reporters, Trump said the US intervention in Iran was undertaken to prevent the country from becoming a nuclear-armed state, describing the move as a significant strategic decision.
He maintained that denying Iran nuclear capabilities remains a central objective of his administration and suggested that recent developments indicate the conflict may not continue for much longer.
“I think the war is going to end soon. I don’t think they can go much longer,” Trump said, without elaborating on the factors behind his assessment.
The remarks come at a time of continuing geopolitical tensions in the region, with the United States pursuing both military and diplomatic efforts aimed at addressing concerns over Iran’s nuclear programme.
Iran has not immediately responded to Trump’s latest statement.
