Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini reaffirmed his government’s dedication to integrating the teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita into the state’s educational curriculum and promoting its wisdom in every home. Speaking on the occasion of Guru Purnima at the Gita Gyan Sansthanam in Kurukshetra, the Chief Minister emphasized that the Gita is not merely a religious text but a comprehensive science of living. He noted that the text’s synthesis of Karma (action), Dharma (duty), Gyan (knowledge), and Bhakti (devotion) serves as the foundational guide for societal and national progress.
During his visit, Chief Minister Saini met with Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Maharaj, offering a shawl and seeking blessings in accordance with the traditional Guru-Shishya (teacher-student) lineage. The Chief Minister also performed prayers at the Radha Krishna temple within the institute, invoking prosperity, peace, and welfare for the people of Haryana.
Highlighting Kurukshetra’s global significance as the birthplace of the Gita, the Chief Minister stated that the state is developing the city into an international hub of spiritual wisdom. He credited the success of the International Gita Mahotsav—now one of the world’s largest cultural events—to the continued guidance of saints like Swami Gyananand Maharaj. He added that centers like Brahmsarovar, Jyotisar, and the Gita Gyan Sansthanam are instrumental in disseminating the Gita’s universal message across the globe.
Reflecting on the philosophy of Antyodaya (uplifting the last person), Chief Minister Saini stated that the state government is dedicated to inclusive development, with targeted welfare schemes for farmers, women, youth, and the underprivileged. He emphasized that the principle of Nishkama Karma (selfless action) serves as the driving force behind the state’s mission to achieve a “Viksit Haryana” (Developed Haryana) and a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) by 2047.
In his address, Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Maharaj lauded the Chief Minister as a Karmayogi, praising his swift and effective service to the state. He commended the government’s efforts to promote the Gita, noting that its teachings instill discipline, dedication, and patriotism in citizens. He highlighted the verse “Karmanye Vadhikaraste” (You have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action) as the ultimate inspiration for both the administration and the youth of the nation.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena, Superintendent of Police Chandra Mohan, Sampurnanand Maharaj, and Chairman Gurnam Saini, alongside numerous devotees.
