New Delhi: Delhi Police have formally approached social media platform X (formerly Twitter), requesting the removal of a post alleged to contain defamatory and objectionable remarks directed at constitutional authorities. The move is part of an ongoing investigation into the circulation of content on the platform.
In its communication to the company, the police asked for the immediate deletion or blocking of the post or video in question, stating that the material was allegedly malicious and defamatory in nature.
Investigators have also sought the identity of the account holder responsible for uploading the content. The request includes details such as the user’s full name, residential address, contact number, email address, and login as well as logout records along with their corresponding timestamps.
Besides seeking subscriber information, Delhi Police has directed the platform to preserve all data related to the disputed content so that it remains available for the investigation and any future legal proceedings.
The communication further asks X to provide any additional information that could assist the investigation and submit a certificate under Section 63(4) of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) to authenticate the electronic records.
Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the account involved or the nature of the content under scrutiny. The matter is currently under investigation, and further action is expected based on the information provided by the social media platform.
