Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): Aam Aadmi Party Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Pannu stated that over 72.56 lakh women aged 18 and above have registered for the state’s flagship Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, showcasing significant public participation in the welfare initiative. Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, Pannu announced that women whose registrations were finalized in later phases will receive a consolidated three-month instalment credited directly into their bank accounts on August 1. Ludhiana recorded the highest number of enrollments with over 7.86 lakh applicants, followed by Patiala and Amritsar.
Highlighting the state’s public health delivery, Pannu shared updated figures for the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, stating that more than 50 lakh Sehat Cards have been issued across the state so far. He emphasized that the government has spent ₹917 crore to facilitate cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh per beneficiary across government and empanelled private hospitals. Ludhiana led the healthcare scheme distribution with over 5.36 lakh issued cards, followed by Patiala and Jalandhar.
Addressing recent speculation, Pannu dismissed social media reports claiming a legal halt on the women’s welfare program, clarifying that the Punjab and Haryana High Court has not issued any stay order on the Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna. Drawing comparisons with past political promises and neighboring state initiatives, he reiterated that the state administration remains focused on executing its welfare commitments, including free power coverage and expanded canal water access across agricultural belts.
