Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a massive infrastructure upgrade for Haryana by dedicating and laying the foundation stones for nine critical development projects valued at ₹14,721 crore during a high-profile event in Jind. A historic highlight of the visit was the flagging off of India’s first hydrogen fuel cell-based passenger passenger train. Operating on the Jind-Sonipat route, this indigenous green initiative positions Haryana as a frontrunner in sustainable public transit and marks a clean energy milestone for Indian Railways.
The extensive financial layout heavily targets regional connectivity through several key highway corridors. Prime Minister Modi dedicated the completed Haryana section of the multi-lane Delhi-Jammu-Katra Expressway to the nation, an initiative designed to provide seamless logistics and slashed transit times between the national capital and northern territories. Alongside this corridor, the Prime Minister inaugurated the 33.81-kilometre Ambala-Kala Amb National Highway, built at a cost of ₹1,184 crore to smoothen transit between industrial hubs in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. The road network further expanded with the inauguration of the ₹1,606 crore Jind-Gohana National Highway and the foundation stone laying ceremony for the ₹135 crore Hansi-Barwala National Highway upgrade.
Urban rail operations received a substantial technological boost with the inauguration of the Kurukshetra Elevated Railway Track. Built with an investment of ₹372 crore, this specialised engineering project eliminates frequent traffic bottlenecks at city railway crossings, improving local safety and boosting commuter speeds across both rail and road channels.
In the healthcare sector, the central government expanded regional medical capabilities by launching two brand-new government medical colleges. The newly built Pandit Neki Ram Sharma Government Medical College in Bhiwani, constructed for ₹594 crore, and the Maharishi Chyawan Medical College and Rao Tula Ram Hospital in Koriawas, Narnaul, built at an outlay of ₹844 crore, will offer increased MBBS seating capacities and specialized tertiary care to local rural populations.
To honour cultural history, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art Sikh Museum in Kurukshetra. Backed by an estimated investment of ₹164 crore, the museum is planned to deploy advanced multimedia and immersive technologies to display the lineage, teachings, sacrifices, and historical contributions of the Sikh Gurus, providing a major educational attraction for spiritual tourism in northern India.
