Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh) — In a major push toward clean energy, sustainable mobility, and environmental preservation, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini chaired the second board of directors meeting of the “Artificial Intelligence for Resilient Jobs, Urban Air Quality and Next Generation Skills Council” (ARJUN SPV) on Monday at the Haryana Civil Secretariat. During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed officials to fast-track the transition toward green public transport and optimize the utilization of modern technologies to combat pollution and enhance sustainable development across the state.
A key administrative directive issued during the session involves the development of a dedicated digital portal to streamline the registration and scientific disposal of end-of-life or scrapped vehicles. The online platform will allow both private citizens and government departments to register unserviceable vehicles seamlessly, introducing greater transparency and efficiency into the vehicle-scrapping ecosystem. Additionally, the Chief Minister mandated the accelerated installation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, reviewing active plans to set up 100 charging stations statewide alongside proposed policy updates to promote clean production technologies within micro, small, and medium enterprises.
The high-level meeting also evaluated the progress of the Haryana Clean Air Project for Sustainable Development (HCAPSD) annual action plan for the 2026-27 fiscal year. Comprehensive reviews were conducted regarding the expansion of electric bus fleets under public-private partnership models in urban hubs like Gurgaon, Faridabad, and Sonipat. Discussions further extended to agricultural waste management, focusing on rigorous stubble-management techniques, localized technical solutions, and farmer awareness campaigns to curb crop-residue burning. Prominent officials in attendance included Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana, Chief Principal Secretary Rajesh Khullar, and Principal Secretary Arun Kumar Gupta.
