OCSA’s 3rd Annual Khed Mela Set to Bring Punjabi Culture, Community Spirit to Airdrie on August 2

Calgary (Rajeev Sharma): The Overseas Cultural Society of Airdrie (OCSA) is preparing to host its 3rd Annual Khed Mela on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Nose Creek Park in Airdrie, promising an evening filled with Punjabi culture, family entertainment, traditional games, live performances and community celebration. The event will begin at 4:00 p.m. and is expected to attract hundreds of visitors from Airdrie, Calgary and neighbouring communities.

Organized to celebrate Punjabi heritage while fostering multicultural harmony, the annual Khed Mela has become a popular summer gathering that welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds. Organizers say the festival is designed to bring families together through cultural activities, delicious food and live entertainment in a welcoming environment.

One of the main attractions of this year’s event will be an energetic Bhangra performance by PVO (Punjab’s Very Own Performing Arts School). Visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy a wide selection of food stalls featuring local vendors and community businesses. Continuing the Sikh tradition of selfless service, the Guru Nanak Free Kitchen (Langar) will serve free meals to all visitors throughout the event. Organizers have also announced that free ice cream will be available for everyone, adding to the family friendly atmosphere.

The organizers have announced that National Times Media Group will serve as the Official Media Partner for the 3rd Annual Khed Mela.
