Washington (Rajeev Sharma): US President Donald Trump has welcomed the decision to name a prominent road in Hyderabad after him, describing the gesture as a special honour and thanking India for the recognition.
Taking to his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump shared a photograph from the inauguration ceremony of Donald Trump Avenue, saying he was proud to become the first US President to have a road named after him in India.
The avenue, situated beside the US Consulate in Hyderabad, was formally unveiled earlier this week in the presence of Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor. The stretch is located in one of the city’s fastest-growing commercial districts, home to several multinational technology firms.
Officials in Telangana said the naming of the road reflects Hyderabad’s close engagement with the United States and recognises the city’s growing importance as a destination for global investment and innovation. The area surrounding the avenue houses offices of leading American companies, making it a symbolic location for the tribute.
Trump’s acknowledgement of the development quickly gained attention online, with supporters highlighting the move as another example of the strong relationship between India and the United States. His message of thanks was widely shared across social media platforms.
