Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): — The Bhagavad Gita is not merely a religious scripture but an invaluable heritage that offers timeless guidance to all of humanity, stated Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday. Delivering a virtual address from Chandigarh during the concluding ceremony of the International Gita Mahotsav held in Japan, Saini emphasized that the message of righteous action, or “Karmayoga,” delivered by Lord Krishna on the sacred soil of Kurukshetra remains a profound source of inspiration for global society.
The Chief Minister noted that the teachings of the Gita instill duty, self-confidence, restraint, and a deep commitment to human welfare. He remarked that in an era where the world faces complex geopolitical tensions and mental stress, the scripture’s emphasis on inner peace, social harmony, and positive thinking is more relevant than ever, successfully bridging cultural divides across nations.
Reflecting on the expansion of the festival, Saini noted that the International Gita Mahotsav, which originated in Kurukshetra, has now truly globalized by reaching numerous foreign shores. He underscored the historic, cultural, and economic ties between India and Japan, highlighting that the relationship between the state of Haryana and Japanese partners continues to strengthen through robust corporate and cultural exchanges.
The Chief Minister congratulated the international organizing committees for executing a successful summit, expressing confidence that the divine philosophy of the Gita will continue to pave the way for global peace and mutual cooperation. The high-profile event in Japan was attended by noted spiritual leader Swami Gyananand Maharaj, Consul General of India in Osaka Chandru Appar, Kurukshetra Development Board Member Secretary Dr. Amit Agrawal, and numerous international delegates representing socio-cultural organizations.
