Himachal (Rajeev Sharma): Large parts of Himachal Pradesh are expected to remain under the influence of an active weather system on Saturday, with the Meteorological Department forecasting widespread rainfall and issuing a yellow alert for ten districts. The advisory warns of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds, urging residents to remain cautious, especially in vulnerable hilly regions.
The alert covers Shimla, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Solan, Chamba, Sirmaur, Una, Bilaspur and Hamirpur, where intermittent showers and strong winds are likely throughout the day. Officials have advised tourists and commuters to keep track of weather updates, as sudden changes in conditions could affect travel and outdoor activities.
While rainfall is expected to dominate the forecast, temperatures across the state are likely to stay close to seasonal averages without any major fluctuations. The showers are expected to provide relief from warm conditions in several lower-altitude areas while maintaining pleasant weather in the hill stations.
Among the recorded minimum temperatures, Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti remained the coldest location at 6.5 degrees Celsius. In contrast, Bilaspur and Paonta Sahib reported comparatively warmer conditions, while Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala and Kufri continued to enjoy cool early morning weather.
Meteorological officials have advised people living near rivers, streams and landslide-prone areas to stay alert as rainfall activity is expected to persist over the next few days, increasing the possibility of localized disruptions.
