Haryana Honours Floriculture Champions as CM Nayab Singh Saini Pushes for Horticulture-Led Growth

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday recognised the contributions of progressive farmers in the floriculture sector by presenting the prestigious Pushp Ratna and Pushp Samman awards during a state-level programme held at Munimpur village.

The awards were conferred on farmers from different districts who have demonstrated excellence in flower cultivation and adopted innovative agricultural practices to strengthen the state’s horticulture sector.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said Haryana’s farmers are increasingly embracing modern farming methods and exploring high-value crops to improve productivity and profitability. He noted that floriculture has emerged as an important avenue for agricultural diversification, helping farmers generate better returns while reducing dependence on traditional crops.

“Farmers are creating new success stories through innovation, scientific techniques and hard work. Floriculture is not only enhancing farm incomes but is also opening up fresh opportunities in the agriculture and horticulture sectors,” Saini said.

During the event, the Chief Minister felicitated the award-winning farmers with shawls, certificates of appreciation and mementoes. He also encouraged cultivators to adopt advanced technologies and expand their participation in horticulture and flower production.

Among those who received the Pushp Ratna Award were Lalit Saini of Faridabad, Chhotelal and Rahul Singh of Panchkula, Rajkumar of Rohtak, Surender Kumar, Sandeep Kumar, Satyanarayan and Gyani Ram of Rewari, Rajesh Devi of Narnaul, Keshav Chauhan of Gurugram and Ranveer Singh of Palwal.

Meanwhile, Khajan Singh from Jhajjar district was honoured with the Pushp Samman Award for his notable achievements and contribution to the floriculture industry.

The Chief Minister reiterated the Haryana Government’s commitment to strengthening horticulture and supporting farmers through modern technologies, research-based solutions and improved training facilities. He said the state is continuously working to increase farmers’ earnings by promoting crop diversification and encouraging cultivation practices that offer higher economic returns.

Saini expressed confidence that with better infrastructure, technical support and awareness, Haryana can emerge as a leading hub for floriculture and horticulture in the country.

The event also highlighted the growing role of flower cultivation in rural economic development, with experts pointing out that increasing demand for flowers and ornamental plants has created new market opportunities for farmers across the state.
