Benjamin Netanyahu Reasserts Firm Stand on Iran’s Nuclear Programme, Says Israel Will Not Compromise on Security

Jerusalem (Rajeev Sharma): Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has once again underscored his government’s unwavering opposition to Iran acquiring nuclear weapons, stating that Israel’s position will remain unchanged regardless of any diplomatic agreement reached between Tehran and other nations.

Speaking on the issue, Netanyahu said preventing Iran from becoming a nuclear power has been the central objective of his public life and one that he intends to pursue with the same determination in the years ahead. He stressed that Israel would continue to prioritise its national security above all other considerations.

The Prime Minister asserted that no international arrangement would alter Israel’s commitment to stopping Iran’s nuclear ambitions. According to him, Tehran will not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons “today or in the future” as long as his government remains in office.

His comments come at a time when renewed diplomatic engagement involving Iran has sparked debate over the future of regional security and nuclear oversight. While several countries have expressed optimism about ongoing negotiations, Israel has maintained that any agreement must guarantee that Iran is permanently prevented from developing nuclear arms.

Netanyahu described his decades-long campaign against Iran’s nuclear programme as a defining responsibility, emphasising that successive Israeli governments have consistently viewed the issue as a direct threat to the country’s security.

The remarks also reflect Israel’s long-standing policy of retaining the freedom to act independently if it believes its strategic interests are at risk. Officials in Jerusalem have repeatedly argued that diplomatic initiatives should be accompanied by strict enforcement mechanisms and credible safeguards.

Security analysts believe the Prime Minister’s statement is intended to reassure the domestic audience while signalling to the international community that Israel will closely monitor any developments related to Iran’s nuclear activities.

As discussions over regional stability continue, Netanyahu’s latest declaration reinforces Israel’s hardline approach and its insistence that the prevention of a nuclear-armed Iran remains a non-negotiable national objective.

The statement is expected to influence ongoing geopolitical discussions, highlighting the differing perspectives among regional stakeholders even as diplomatic efforts seek to reduce tensions and establish a broader framework for peace and security in West Asia.
