Haryana Launches Statewide Voter List Verification Drive From June 15; Citizens Asked to Submit Enumeration Forms

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Haryana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), A. Srinivas, on Sunday announced the launch of a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls across the state from June 15, aimed at ensuring a more accurate, transparent and error-free voter database ahead of future elections.

Under the month-long campaign, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door verification of voters from June 15 to July 14 and distribute enumeration forms to households. Citizens will be required to fill, sign and return these forms to the BLOs for their names to remain included in the draft electoral roll.

Addressing the media, the Chief Electoral Officer said Haryana currently has over 2.06 crore registered voters and 20,629 polling stations. BLOs have been deployed at every polling booth and will visit households to verify voter details and collect the required forms.

He clarified that voters whose completed enumeration forms are not received during the revision exercise will not be included in the draft electoral roll as per the Election Commission’s guidelines.

Srinivas said BLOs would make at least three attempts to contact residents. If family members are unavailable, the BLO will leave the enumeration form along with a notice containing their contact details, enabling residents to complete the verification process later.

11 Documents Approved for Verification

The Chief Electoral Officer informed that the Election Commission has identified 11 categories of documents that can be used for voter verification. These include government-issued identity cards, pension payment orders, birth certificates, passports, educational certificates, domicile certificates, forest rights certificates, caste certificates, family registers and government-issued land or house allotment documents.

He added that these documents would be used in cases where voter details cannot be verified through existing records.

Eligible Youth Can Also Register

Srinivas said citizens who will attain the age of 18 years on July 1, 2026, will also be eligible to apply for inclusion in the voter list. Such applicants can submit Form-6 along with the prescribed declaration and supporting documents.

Draft Electoral Roll on July 21

According to the announced schedule, the draft electoral roll will be published on July 21, 2026. Claims and objections can be submitted between July 21 and August 20, while their disposal will be completed by September 18. The final electoral roll will be published on September 22, 2026.

The Chief Electoral Officer noted that the last large-scale door-to-door voter verification exercise in Haryana was conducted in 2002. The current campaign marks the first such statewide revision exercise in more than two decades.

He said the objective of the campaign is to ensure that every eligible citizen is included in the voter list while removing inaccuracies caused by deceased, duplicate or relocated voters. So far, approximately 64.7 percent mapping work has already been completed.

Additional Officers, Helplines and Political Participation

To strengthen implementation, Municipal Commissioners in various cities have also been assigned responsibilities as Additional District Election Officers to support district administrations during the revision process.

Srinivas further informed that political parties have appointed a significant number of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to assist in the exercise. So far, the Bharatiya Janata Party has appointed 15,808 BLAs, the Indian National Congress 12,855, CPI(M) 270, INLD 217 and other political parties 214.

He urged all recognized political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents at every polling station to enhance transparency and ensure smooth execution of the revision process.

For voter convenience, help desks have been established at Assembly constituency levels, while district-level call centres have also been set up. Citizens can seek information through the Election Commission’s helpline number 1950 and other digital platforms. The progress of the campaign will be monitored in real time.

Appealing to citizens to actively participate, Srinivas urged voters to cooperate with BLOs, complete their enumeration forms accurately and submit them on time to ensure their names remain on the electoral rolls.
