Gurpreet Singh :- Former Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh has recorded his statement before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Behbal Kalan firing case, a development that could have significant implications in the ongoing investigation.
According to sources, Giani Raghbir Singh told the SIT that Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal had, during his appearance before the Akal Takht, accepted responsibility for the events related to the Behbal Kalan firing incident. The statement is being viewed as an important element in the investigation and may add a new dimension to the case.
The former Jathedar also reportedly informed the SIT that a video recording of the proceedings before the Akal Takht, including the alleged admission, is preserved in the institution’s official records. Investigators are expected to examine all relevant evidence as part of their inquiry.
In his statement, Giani Raghbir Singh further alleged that the firing on protesters at Behbal Kalan was not an isolated action but part of a larger conspiracy. He claimed that the demonstrators were unarmed and were participating in a peaceful protest when the incident took place.
