Happy Valley-Goose Bay (Rajeev Sharma): Canadian authorities have launched a nationwide search for a Quebec man charged with first-degree murder in connection with the 2023 killing of Franz Drosch in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) identified the accused as 30-year-old David Faucher of Sherbrooke, Quebec. Investigators have obtained a Canada-wide arrest warrant and say Faucher is actively evading police.
According to the RCMP, Faucher is believed to be in the Sherbrooke area but may also have links to the Trois-Rivières region of Quebec and Mexico. Police are continuing efforts to locate and apprehend him.
Authorities believe Faucher may be travelling in a grey 2026 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck bearing Quebec licence plate FTV 8960.
Faucher is described as approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing around 190 pounds, with brown eyes.
Police have urged the public not to approach him under any circumstances. Anyone who spots Faucher is advised to immediately contact emergency services by calling 911.
Investigators are also appealing for information regarding his whereabouts or recent movements and have asked anyone with relevant details to come forward.
The charge stems from the death of Franz Drosch, who was 43 years old when he was killed inside a residence in Happy Valley-Goose Bay in 2023. The case has remained under investigation since the incident.
The RCMP has not released additional details regarding the circumstances of the killing, but officials described the latest development as a significant breakthrough in the long-running homicide investigation.
Police said the search remains active as officers work to bring the accused into custody.
