Ludhiana (Gurpreet Singh): Authorities in Ludhiana were placed on alert Monday after a threatening email warning of bomb attacks at key locations in the city was received by senior civic officials. The message reportedly mentioned the Ludhiana Mayor’s office as well as the residence of Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh.
Sources in the administration said the email was delivered early in the morning to multiple official government accounts, including that of the Municipal Commissioner. The communication allegedly outlined specific timings for the attacks and carried strong warnings against anyone supporting the singer.
Officials revealed that the message threatened an explosion at the Mayor’s office during the afternoon, while another attack was allegedly planned near Diljit Dosanjh’s home later in the day. The email also contained inflammatory language and references linked to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, claiming that further actions would continue until June 6.
The threat was reportedly issued in the name of an organization calling itself the “Khalistan National Army.” Two individuals identifying themselves as Engineer Gurnakh Singh and Dr. Gurnirvair Singh were also mentioned in the mail.
Following the incident, police teams and cybercrime investigators launched an immediate probe to determine the authenticity and source of the email. Technical experts are working to trace the IP address and gather digital evidence connected to the sender.
As a precaution, security arrangements around government offices and sensitive areas in Ludhiana have been strengthened. Surveillance has also been increased at important public locations while officials continue to monitor the situation closely.
Police authorities have urged residents not to panic or circulate unverified information on social media. Officials said all threats are being taken seriously and appropriate action is underway to ensure public safety.
