Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini Rolls Out Mobile Vet Fleet and 2047 Agriculture Roadmap

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has finalized a comprehensive restructuring of the state’s agricultural and livestock sectors, highlighted by the rollout of a rapid-response mobile veterinary fleet. Equipped with specialized veterinary doctors and medical assistants, these mobile units are scheduled to deliver on-site emergency treatment directly to farmers’ doorsteps within 30 minutes of receiving a distress call. The specialized medical service will initially operate daily from 6 AM to 10 PM via a centralized toll-free helpline, 1962, with explicit directives issued to systematically transition the fleet into a round-the-clock emergency apparatus.

The policy rollout was established during a high-level review meeting in Chandigarh, where the Chief Minister evaluated the five-year strategic roadmaps and institutional reforms presented by the departments of agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, and animal husbandry under Haryana’s “Vision 2047” framework. A major focus of the review centered on reversing severe environmental degradation across rural belts. To address soil productivity issues, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare announced an ambitious project to reclaim 1.40 lakh acres of waterlogged and saline land during the 2026-27 fiscal year, charting a precise administrative path to achieve 100 per cent land reclamation across all affected zones by 2031.

The state’s multi-sectoral strategy introduces significant technological shifts to protect depleting groundwater resources and eliminate environmental pollution. Haryana aims to bring three lakh acres of cultivation under Direct Seeded Rice techniques and transition 1.5 lakh acres to organic and natural farming clusters. Additionally, to achieve a zero-stubble-burning target across the province, the administration will distribute 15,000 crop residue management machines annually to local farmers. To ensure these modern practices are adopted effectively, Chief Minister Saini ordered the launch of a statewide awareness initiative utilizing digital campaigns, informative documentaries, and dedicated social media outlets across all state departments.

Parallel expansion strategies have been mapped out for allied agricultural sectors to maximize rural incomes. The Department of Horticulture has been tasked with creating specialized cultivation clusters for high-value fruits like apples, dates, and pears, while the Fisheries Department received clear directives to convert unproductive waterlogged terrains into commercial shrimp farming zones. To support the livestock sector, Principal Secretary of Animal Husbandry Vijay Singh Dahiya outlined plans to modernize diagnostic laboratories and implement real-time epidemiological monitoring systems. The Chief Minister concluded the session by ordering the organization of four major livestock fairs annually across various districts to streamline cattle trade and foster community integration.
