Gurmukhi Express to Now Run Up to Amb Andaura, Boosting Rail Connectivity in Una

Una (Gurpreet Singh): Rail passengers in Himachal Pradesh’s Una district are set to benefit from improved long-distance connectivity as Indian Railways has officially extended the weekly Gurmukhi Express service from Nangal Dam to Amb Andaura. The extended service is scheduled to begin its inaugural run from Amb Andaura on June 6.

With the route expansion, three railway stations in Una district — Una, Chururu-Takarla and Amb Andaura — will now become part of the train’s regular schedule, strengthening travel links between the region and eastern India.

The Gurmukhi Express, train number 12325, currently departs from Kolkata every Thursday morning at 7:40 am and reaches Nangal Dam the following day at 4:05 pm. Under the revised timetable, the train will continue onward to Amb Andaura, arriving there at 4:55 pm.

For the return trip, train number 12326 will commence its journey from Amb Andaura at 6:10 am every Saturday and is expected to reach Kolkata at 2:50 pm on Sunday.

The extension is expected to significantly benefit passengers from Una and nearby areas by offering direct rail access to key religious and commercial centres such as Varanasi and Patna Sahib. The service will also connect travellers to major cities and trade hubs including Ambala, Saharanpur, Roorkee, Moradabad, Bareilly, Lucknow and Asansol before reaching Kolkata.

The move is being seen as an important step toward enhancing transportation infrastructure in the region and is likely to provide greater convenience for pilgrims, business travellers and tourists alike. Local residents have welcomed the decision, saying it will reduce travel hassles and improve access to important destinations across northern and eastern India.
