Massive Gas Explosion in China Coal Mine Kills 90, Rescue Operations Underway

Rajeev Sharma :- A devastating gas explosion at a coal mine in China’s northern Shanxi province has claimed the lives of at least 90 workers, triggering shock and grief across the country. The incident occurred on Friday evening at the Liushenyu coal mine in Changzhi city, where hundreds of miners were reportedly working underground at the time of the blast.

According to local reports, nearly 247 workers were inside the mine when the explosion took place. Authorities have not yet confirmed how many workers remain trapped, while emergency rescue teams continue large-scale search and evacuation operations at the site.

Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed deep concern over the tragedy and instructed officials to leave no stone unturned in rescuing survivors and ensuring proper medical treatment for the injured. He also ordered a thorough investigation into the cause of the explosion and directed authorities to fix accountability in accordance with the law.

The incident has once again raised serious concerns over safety standards in China’s mining sector, which has witnessed several deadly accidents in recent years despite repeated government assurances regarding stricter safety measures.
